Respect
Always be respectful to training partners, instructors, and the community.
Maintain a positive attitude, no egoβs, practice gratitude, and good sportsmanship.
Greet and shake hands with your training partners & coaches.
Bow before entering and exiting the mat.
Resolve any potential conflict with reflection, honesty, and communication. Proceed with a willingness to compromise, adjust, forgive, or let be.
Hygiene
Follow basic hygiene practices (hands, feet, trimmed nails, shower before & after, no jewelry, or zippers).
Clean up after yourself, and wash your apparel daily.
Use communal sandals in the bathroom or sink area. Wear shoes or sandals when stepping outside.
Stay home if you are sick, have a fever or cough, or any infections. Communicate any concerns with coaches to get clearance.
Classroom Etiquette
Punctuality, do your best to make it to class on time and prepared to minimize any distractions for others when class is in session.
Minimize talking during instructions.
No coaching from parents, or students unless you are a brown or black belt, or approved to do so by coaches.
Zero tolerance regarding harassment of any kind, racism, homophobia, & any forms of discrimination.
Training Partner Awareness
Go slow if you are new, take rest rounds as needed, and be mindful of others.
Tap early, tap loudly, tap often, and do not force any dangerous positions.
Be humble, and communicate any limitations or awareness of injuries.
Understand any size or strength differentials during sparring w/ partners.
Support each otherβs training and growth.
